In the early 90’s there was a great song out by one of my favorite bands, The Dave Matthew’s Band, called ‘Where Are You Going.’ As many of you know this question is also a favorite of mine. I always enjoy asking people to consider where they are going. Today, I want to flip this thought a little and hopefully give you a fresh perspective.
Continually ask yourself ‘Where am I going’ but along with this, also ask ‘What am I embracing?’ I truly believe that our path in life has already been travelled, it’s now up to us to open ourselves up to the opportunities that come. We are wired to explore, to be curious and search. We are created to be creators and innovators. So in thinking about the direction we are going we must also consider what we are embracing. Many have tried to forge ahead through the walls of steal. They have had the attitude that nothing will stop them because they are on a mission. The only problem with this mind set is that by the time you get to your destination you’re too worn out to enjoy it! All your energy has been spent on ‘forging ahead!’ Consider this, what if, instead of ‘forging ahead,’ we embraced the passions and dreams that have been planted in our hearts? Just as the eagle SOARS effortlessly on the wind, we too could SOAR effortlessly on the path that has been given to us since our inception! I think it’s a great thought process to consider. But even more than that, I believe it is the way we are meant to live.
So don’t make today too difficult. Life isn’t meant to be this way. You were meant to soar, not struggle. Decide where you are going and embrace the path that’s ahead. Soon you will find yourself enjoying life like you never have before!
