What did you accomplish today? It’s a question I continually ask myself. I’m one that comes from the school of thought that states it’s always better to focus on the positive than the negative. In my days of retail management, I was taught a great lesson in dealing with people: it takes 3 comments of praise to overcome a comment of confrontation or negativity. Now, I would like to apply this principle to you. Actually, I would like YOU to apply this principle to YOURSELF! Encourage yourself. Engage yourself. I know I’m not the only one with that little conversation going on in my head all day long. Constantly telling ourselves we can be successful. Or reminding ourselves that we are making the right choice. Maybe clearing out the confusion in our minds of the direction we are headed. I’m learning that the best way to affirm our actions in life is to simply accomplish something. Be successful today at something simple. Take a moment to celebrate then move on to the next project.

I’ve encouraged several students to enjoy what they read today! As an elementary school librarian, I feel actively involved in their education and love of literacy and that is awesome to me! I’ve also worked really hard at raising money for our school library and am estimating a $5000 book shopping spree come mid May! I LOVE MY JOB! I’m excited about books and that enthusiasm is rubbing of on the students, parents and teachers around me. I have to pat myself on the back for that! Woo-Hoo!!!

And on a similar note, I got a new client/project yesterday that should be full of rewarding challenges. When you love what you do, it’s awesome when you help someone out, right Cory?
I was having a rough day today and a friend come by at the end of the day and was so positive with his words and actions that it made my frustrated day turn into a fantastic evening. Thanks Mitch for coming by.

Yes Scott, it is amazing….It’s so not about us! True accomplishment, I believe is to the extent of our availability to be used for higher purposes….purposes that last forever and ever…and ever!
